CAMÉRAS EMBARQUÉES : EXPÉRIENCE CONCLUANTE
À LA COUPE DU MONDE CIK-FIA DE KARTING
La grande innovation introduite par la CIK-FIA à Sarno (Italie) a produit d’encourageants résultats en matière de contrôle des courses. Les caméras embarquées miniatures systématiquement montées sur l’ensemble des karts des Juniors de la catégorie KF3, dans toutes leurs manches et finales, ont permis aux officiels de la course de mieux observer les actions des pilotes en piste. Mais il semble surtout qu’elles ont induit une indéniable amélioration des comportements en piste, par une meilleure auto-discipline des pilotes. La finale de la Coupe du Monde CIK-FIA de KF3 a été très sportive et “fair play”, sans pour autant perdre un seul carat de spectacle. La course fut d’une intensité rare, avec de très nombreux dépassements en tête (cinq changements de leaders) et au sein du peloton.
Au bout du week-end, pas moins de 360 enregistrements ont été récoltés et, sur base de rapports transmis par les officiels de l’épreuve et commisaires de piste, de très nombreuses actions ont été analysées, donnant lieu à une dizaine de pénalités, dont trois exclusions pour conduite anti-sportive.
Les pilotes qui le désirent pourront récupérer les images de leurs prestations, à des fins d’analyse et de souvenir d’une compétition qui s’est révélée être d’un très haut niveau.
En conclusion, officiels et team-managers ont observé un changement de comportement parmi les pilotes, y compris lors des phases de départ, désormais moins chahutées. L’objectif visé de prévention des comportements anti-sportifs a donc été atteint, au point que la CIK-FIA reconduira l’opération dans le cadre de la prochaine Coupe du Monde CIK-FIA de KF2 à Alcaniz (Espagne) le 20 septembre prochain et lors du Championnat du Monde de la CIK-FIA à courir le 11 octobre prochain à Macau.

ON-BOARD CAMERAS: CONCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE
AT THE CIK-FIA KARTING WORLD CUP
The major innovation introduced by the CIK-FIA at Sarno (Italy) produced encouraging results regarding race control. The miniature on-board cameras systematically mounted on all the Junior karts of the KF3 category, in all their heats and finals, enabled the officials of the race to observe the drivers’ actions on the track more efficiently. But they particularly seem to have resulted in an indisputable improvement of their track behaviour thanks to better self-discipline of the drivers. The final of the CIK-FIA World Cup for KF3 was run with a very sportsmanlike and fair-play attitude, but without losing one single ounce of the show. The race had a rare intensity and there was much overtaking for the lead (five different leaders) and within the field.
At the end of the weekend, no fewer than 360 recordings were collected and, on the basis of reports forwarded by the officials and marshals of the event, a very large number of actions were examined and resulted in approximately ten penalties, including three exclusions for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Interested drivers can get the pictures of their performance in order to study it or keep a memory of a competition which proved to reach a very high level.
In conclusion, officials and team-managers observed a change of behaviour of the drivers, including during start phases, in which there was less mayhem. The aim of preventing unsportsmanlike behaviours has therefore been reached, so much so that the CIK-FIA will renew the operation within the framework of the next CIK-FIA World Cup for KF2, to be held at Alcaniz (Spain) on 20 September, and at the 2009 CIK-FIA World Championship scheduled for 11 October at Macao.
