TROPHÉE VIKING CIK-FIA AU DANEMARK

Rendez-vous traditionnel en Europe du Nord depuis l’année 1990, le Viking Trophy de la CIK-FIA participe à la promotion des kartmen d’Europe du Nord.

Le Viking Trophy est accueilli à tour de rôle par le Danemark, la Norvège, la Suède et la Finlande. En vertu de ce principe de rotation, le tour de l’organiser revient cette année au Danemark et à la piste de Thy-Hanstholm (1230m), qui par le passé, a déjà accueilli d’autres éditions du Viking Trophy et même des Championnats d’Europe de la CIK-FIA. Le circuit «Thy Karting Center», situé dans le nord du pays, fête cette année son 15ème anniversaire.

Au fil des ans, le Viking Trophy s’est développé: d’abord limité à une seule catégorie (alors appelée ICA) et aux pilotes des quatres principales nations nordiques, il est aujourd’hui disputé dans trois catégories (KF2, KF3 et KZ2) et en sus, s’est ouvert aux concurrents originaires de Russie, d’Islande et des trois pays baltiques. En plus d’offrir la possibilité aux participants de décrocher un titre de la CIK-FIA, le Viking Trophy ouvrira aussi les portes des Coupes du Monde de KF2 et KF3 aux 15 premiers classés de chacune des deux catégories.

Ils sont 5 de plus à s’être inscrits à l’épreuve cette année, étant au total 89 pour les trois catégories en lice. Avec 35 concurrents candidats à la succession du Russe Maxim Zimin, la KF3 des Juniors est la plus fournie. Le même Zimin court désormais en KF2, catégorie qui rassemble 31 engagés, dont le Danois Kevin Munkholm, vainqueur il y a quelques semaines de la Qualification «Nord» au Championnat d’Europe. 23 concurrents, enfin, se sont inscrits dans la catégorie des karts à boîte de vitesses, la KZ2. Dans cette dernière classe, on remarquera que les 23 Pilotes se répartissent sur 16 marques de châssis différentes!

Les essais qualificatifs et la plupart des manches qualificatives sont prévus le samedi 20 juin. Les dernières manches seront courues le dimanche matin et seront suivies des trois préfnales et trois finales l’après-midi dès 13h30.

CIK-FIA VIKING TROPHY IN DENMARK

Traditionally held in Northern Europe since the year 1990, the CIK-FIA Viking Trophy contributes to the promotion of Northern European kartmen.

The Viking Trophy is hosted in turn by Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. In accordance with this rotation principle, it is Denmark’s turn to organise it this year, and it will take place on the Thy-Hanstholm (1,230 m) track which in past years already hosted other editions of the Viking Trophy and even some CIK-FIA European Championships. The “Thy Karting Center” circuit, located in the north of the country, is celebrating its 15th birthday this year.

As years went by, the Viking Trophy has developed: initially limited to one single category (then called ICA) and to Drivers from the four main Nordic nations, it is now held for three categories (KF2, KF3 and KZ2) and competitors from Russia, Iceland and the three Baltic countries are now also eligible. As well as providing the participants with the possibility to land a CIK-FIA title, the Viking Trophy will also give access to the World Cups for KF2 and KF3 for the top 15 classified Drivers in each of the two categories.

5 more competitors have entered this year’s event, for a total of 89 for the three categories concerned. With 35 candidates for the succession of the Russian Maxim Zimin, the Juniors’ KF3 is the most extensive field. Zimin himself is now racing in KF2, a category which gathers 31 entries, including that of the Dane Kevin Munkholm, who won the “Northern Region” Qualification to the European Championship a few weeks ago. Finally, 23 competitors have entered the KZ2 gearbox kart category. In this class, it is worth noting that the 23 Drivers are divided into 16 different chassis makes!

Qualifying practice and most qualifying heats are scheduled for Saturday 20 June. The last heats will be held on Sunday morning and will be followed by the three pre-finals and the three finals in the afternoon from 13h30.

Det internationale CIK-FIA Viking Trophy karting race, er blevet afholdt i de nordiske lande siden 1990. Det internationale CIK-FIA Viking Trophy bidrager til at fremme international kartsport i Nord Europa.

Viking Trophy afholdes på skift af de nordiske lande: Danmark, Norge, Sverige og Finland. I overensstemmelse med rotationsprincippet, er det Danmarks tur til at arrangere løbet i år, og det vil finde sted på Thy-Hanstholm Karting Banen (1.230 m), som i tidligere år allerede har været vært ved andre udgaver af Viking Trophy og endda nogle internationale CIK-FIA EM løb. Den charmende ”Thy Karting Bane” , er beliggende i den nordlige del af Danmark, tæt på Hanstholm/Thisted og kan i år fejrer sin 15 års fødselsdag.

Som årene er gået har Viking Trophy udviklet sig markant. Oprindelig begrænset til en enkelt kategori/klasse (dengang kaldet ICA) og til kørere fra de fire største nordiske lande. Det nu blevet til tre kategorier/klasser (KF2, KF3 og KZ2; KF = Kart Formula) og konkurrenterne fra Rusland, Island og de tre baltiske lande er i dag også berettigede til at deltage i dette internationale løb.

Ud over at give deltagerne mulighed for at opnå en CIK-FIA titel, vil Viking Trophy løbet også give adgang til World Cups for KF2 og KF3 til top 15 kørerne, i hver af de to kategorier/klasser.

5 flere deltagere har tilmeldt sig dette års arrangement og der er i alt 89 deltagere fordelt på de tre kart klasser KF3/KF2/KZ2 (KZ2 = gearkart).

Ikke mindre end 35 kandidater kæmper om overtagelsen af den russiske Maxim Zimin sejr ved sidste løb af Viking Trophy i klassen KF3. KF3 klassen er den mest omfattende begynder klasse i international karting. Maxim Zimin selv deltager nu i den større KF2 klassen, en kategori/klasse, som stiller med 31 deltagere, herunder dansker Kevin Munkholm, der vandt “Northern Region” kvalifikationen til Europa-mesterskabet for et par uger siden på Genk banen/Belgien. 23 konkurrenter har tilmeldt sig i KZ2 gearkart klassen (verdens mindste Formel 1). I denne klasse, er det værd at bemærke, at de 23 kørere deltager med ikke mindre end 16 forskellige chassiser/kartmærker!

Tidskørsel og indledende kvalifikations heat er planlagt til lørdag den 20. juni. De sidste kvalifikations heat vil blive afholdt søndag morgen og vil blive efterfulgt af de tre pre-finaler og de tre afgørende finaler, som køres om eftermiddagen med start fra klokken 13:30.
